The Property Masters Guild (PMG) honored several productions on Saturday at the third annual MacGuffin Awards, recognizing outstanding prop work. The awards aim to raise awareness of the property master craft and its importance in storytelling.
PMG co-chairs Corvino Elliott and Lauren Shell stated, “Property masters create character, build the worlds in which our stories play out and oftentimes our props drive the narrative itself.” They congratulated all nominees and winners, emphasizing the significance of their contributions to the industry.
Matthew Cavaliero and Robbie Duncan received the award for Contemporary Feature Film for their work on “One Battle After Another.” Christopher Geggie was honored in the Period Feature Film category for “Frankenstein.” Brad Elliott and Melissa Spicer won in the Fantasy Science Fiction Feature Film category for “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
In television, awards were given for various series. Sarah Snyder won the One-Hour Contemporary Television Series award for “The ’Burbs.” Nicole Ruby took home the One-Hour Period Television Series award for “Spider-Noir.” Brad Einhorn and Andy Siegel earned the One-Hour Fantasy/Science Fiction Television Series award for “Fallout.” Morgan Kling won the Half-Hour Single-Camera Television Series award for “Widow’s Bay.” Addison Esson was recognized for “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire,” Jane Gulick, Matthew Cornelius, Nick Komornicki, and Alvin Cabrinha for “Chief of War,” Theresa Corvino for “The Muppet Show,” and Robbie Duncan for “Brighter Days Ahead.”
Beyond the craft awards, Luis Castro received the Humanitarian Award for his work as a food stylist. Trish Reilly was presented with the President’s Award for her contributions to property craft and food styling on productions including “Obi-Wan,” “Rebel Moon,” “The Orville,” “Grotesquerie” and “American Horror Story.” Barry Wilkinson received the Lifetime Achievement Award for a career spanning over four decades in the property department.
