Courteney Cox has shared her sadness following the death of her “Scream” co-star, Hayden Panettiere, who passed away in August at the age of 36. Cox described Panettiere as “a really wonderful actor” while reflecting on their time filming “Scream VI.”
Cox told Entertainment Weekly, “She’s a really wonderful actor. The last time I worked with her we had a great time. She was really fun and happy and smart, and it’s really sad. It’s obviously horrible.” The pair first worked together in 2011’s “Scream 4,” with Panettiere later appearing in 2023’s “Scream 6.”
Following Panettiere’s death, tributes have been shared widely across Hollywood. Her “Heroes” co-stars held a reunion to celebrate her life. Jimmy Jean-Louis, a series star, shared on X, “A ‘HEROES’ reunion to celebrate the life of HAYDEN was deeply emotional. There was sadness in our hearts, but also so much love, gratitude and warmth as we remembered the beautiful moments shared and the lasting impact of a life that touched so many. Au revoir Hayden.” Jack Coleman, who played Panettiere’s father on “Heroes,” posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, stating, “I’m heartbroken. I couldn’t begin to put my thoughts into words until now, and they will be inadequate.” He described Panettiere as “Haydini, because she was a magician” and recalled her introducing herself on the “Heroes” pilot set by shouting “daddy” and embracing him, after which she always called him “daddio.”
Panettiere’s father shared with ABC, “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”
