Xilam’s upcoming animated feature “Lucy Lost” is generating significant industry attention. The film is set to premiere in Cannes ahead of its official selection for a competition slot in Annecy. For Xilam founder Marc du Pontavice, the project is something of a passion project, stemming from a long-term interest in the source material.
Years ago, the French producer acquired the rights to Michael Morpurgo’s children’s novel “Listen to the Moon.” The story follows a young girl who washes ashore on the Isles of Scilly. Du Pontavice sees the production as an opportunity to highlight a distinct style of narrative. He stated, “From Europe, We Can Explore a More Emotionally Driven Form of Family Storytelling.”
The adaptation of Morpurgo’s novel aims to bring this emotionally driven story to a wider audience through the medium of animation. The film’s inclusion in prestigious festival lineups like Cannes and Annecy marks a notable milestone for the studio and the producer.
