Variety has announced its 2026 class of 10 Actors to Watch, recognizing rising performers poised for prominence. The selections, made by Clayton Davis, chief awards editor, and Emily Longeretta, director of features, will be featured in the Oct. 7 issue of Variety and celebrated at an Oct. 18 brunch hosted by the Newport Beach Film Festival.
This year’s honorees include Jaafar Jackson, who stars as Michael Jackson in Lionsgate’s “Michael,” and Inde Navarrette, who broke out in “Obsession” and is cast as Rogue in an upcoming Marvel Studios “X-Men” film. Also recognized is Ray Nicholson, following roles in “The Beauty” and now appearing in Peter Berg’s “The Mosquito Bowl.”
Other actors selected are Esmé Creed-Miles (“Sense and Sensibility”), Mariana Di Girólamo (“Wild Horse Nine”), Rosalind Eleazar (“Misty Green” and “Slow Horses”), Guitarricadelafuente (“La Bola Negra” and “Bitter Christmas”), Summer H. Howell (“Carrie” and “Runaway”), Ruth Madeley (“Being Heumann”), and Joseph Zada (“The Hunger Games”).
Variety’s “Actors to Watch” franchise, which began in 1998, has previously highlighted over 35 Oscar winners and nominees, including Mahershala Ali, Timothée Chalamet, and Brie Larson. Last year’s class saw success with Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas receiving an Oscar nomination and Chase Infiniti and Miles Caton earning Emmy and songwriting recognition, respectively.
