Chinese tech giant Tencent scrapped its ambitious open-world game, “Last Sentinel,” after six years of development and hundreds of millions of dollars invested. The project aimed to compete with popular titles like Rockstar Games’ “Grand Theft Auto” but ultimately failed to gain traction internally.
The game was being developed by Lightspeed Quantum Studio, a subsidiary of Tencent. According to Bloomberg, the decision to cancel “Last Sentinel” came after internal playtesting revealed it didn't meet the company’s standards and couldn’t compete effectively in the market. The project reportedly suffered from issues with its gameplay and overall direction.
