Indian players achieved significant gains in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings following their victory in the Women's Asia Cup. Shree Charani became the first Indian to surpass 800 rating points in the bowling rankings, while Shafali Verma returned to the top six among batters.
Shree Charani reached a career-best 804 rating points after taking four wickets for 20 runs in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium. This is the highest rating achieved by an Indian player in both batting and bowling in the ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings, surpassing Mithali Raj’s previous batting record of 780 points from 2011. Charani is now only two points behind Megan Schutt of Australia, who holds the record for the highest-ever rating for a women's T20I bowler with 806 points, achieved in November 2018.
Deepti Sharma also improved her ranking, moving up four places to second in the bowling rankings after being the leading wicket-taker in the Asia Cup with 14 wickets. Seamer Nandani Sharma climbed 10 places to 94th, and leg-spinner Prema Rawat jumped 50 places to 96th. Both players demonstrated impressive performances throughout the tournament, with Rawat and Sharma being among the most economical bowlers.
Shafali Verma regained her position in the top six of the T20I batting rankings, rising from seventh to sixth after finishing as the Asia Cup’s leading run-scorer with 236 runs. She scored 64 in the semi-final and 68 in the final, bringing her rating points to 741, her highest since October 2021. Verma is now just one place and four points behind teammate Smriti Mandhana, who holds fifth place with 745 points. Verma also moved up five places to 15th in the all-rounders' rankings, reaching a career-best 221 rating points.
Sri Lanka’s Nilakshika Silva moved up to 44th in the batting rankings, having been the third-highest run-scorer at the Asia Cup with 108 runs. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu rose to 27th in the bowling rankings after taking seven wickets for five runs against Indonesia, finishing the tournament with 12 wickets and retaining third place in the all-rounders' rankings. In a separate series, South Africa’s Anneke Bosch jumped 323 places to 54th in the batting rankings after scoring 83 off 43 balls and 65 off 31 balls in the first two matches of their series against Zimbabwe.
