Polo defeated Milledgeville 70-14 in Friday’s football matchup, part of the Sauk Valley Sports Roundup. Several other teams also secured victories.
Polo (4-0) dominated the “Battle of the Blacktop” game, leading 38-8 after the first quarter. Mercer Mumford led the Marcos with four rushing touchdowns and 161 yards. Jordan Reed threw a touchdown pass to Ryder Faivre. Kyson Francis scored two rushing touchdowns for Milledgeville.
Forreston defeated Dakota 53-14. The Cardinals (3-1, 1-1 NUIC) scored all 53 points in the first half. Liam Setterstrom rushed for 86 yards and a score, while Eli Ferris returned the opening kick for a touchdown and added a 28-yard rushing score.
Stockton won against Morrison 40-3, scoring all its points in the first half. Stockton (3-1, 2-0 NUIC) has only allowed 11 points in its last three games after a 41-20 loss to El Paso-Gridley. West Carroll improved to 3-1 with a 68-6 win over River Ridge, rebounding from a close loss to Amboy.
In boys golf, Dixon defeated Winnebago 151-158. Graham McNitt earned medalist honors with a score of 34, followed by Max Kitzman with a 38 and Brody Nicklaus with a 39. In girls golf, Rachel Drew of Dixon shot a 50 to finish second to Winnebago’s Vanessa Warkentien (46).
