Despite ongoing issues with its junior/senior high school building, Pioneer will proceed with hosting athletic events this fall. The volleyball team will temporarily play at the elementary school gym while repairs are completed. Football games will continue as scheduled at the school’s football field, known as 'The Pit.'
Pioneer’s junior/senior high school is currently out of commission, but Athletic Director John Bingaman confirmed that athletic events will not be canceled. The volleyball team will utilize the gym at the elementary school for their matches until the high school building is deemed safe for use.
Bingaman stated, “We’re gonna be able to play football games, but we can’t get into the…” – indicating that access to other parts of the high school remains restricted. However, the school’s football field, referred to as “The Pit,” is fully operational and available for football games. The decision allows Pioneer to maintain its athletic schedule despite the building’s current condition.
