Paramount Pictures has acquired the North American and select international distribution rights to the film “The Midnight Library” from Studiocanal. The deal was finalized following a bidding war at the Cannes film market.
Florence Pugh is attached to star in the feature and will also serve as a producer. Garth Davis, the director known for the film “Lion,” is set to direct the project.
Studiocanal, a production-distribution banner that is part of the Canal+ Group, will retain distribution rights for the film in the U.K., France, and Germany. Studiocanal is described as a powerful banner within the industry.
