Linda Purl, known for her roles in “Happy Days” and “Matlock,” recently turned 71 and continues to be active in acting, music, and business ventures. She was seen shopping at a Gelson’s Market in Los Angeles during her birthday week.
Purl played Ashley Pfister, Fonzie’s fiancée, in the second-to-last season of “Happy Days” and also appeared as a character who dated Richie Cunningham in the show’s second season. In the 1980s, she portrayed Andy Griffith’s daughter on “Matlock” and had a brief role as Pam Beesley’s mother who dated Michael Scott.
The seasoned actress has been in a relationship with “Dallas” star Patrick Duffy for six years, since reconnecting during the pandemic. Together, they started a sourdough bread company six years ago with the goal of donating profits to food scarcity efforts. “Right from the get-go we wanted all of our profits to go to food scarcity efforts,” Purl explained. “Think, Newman‘s Own wannabes.” They have since expanded distribution to over 2,300 Kroger stores.
Purl’s recent projects include roles on “General Hospital,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “After Forever,” and the movie “Hollywood Grit,” which she stars in alongside Duffy and Tyrese Gibson. She also released a new album, “From My Heart,” this summer and is starring in an off-Broadway one-woman play, “Crazy Mama,” directed by her former “Happy Days” costar Anson Williams. “The play is directed by my dear friend of many decades now, fellow actor, Anson Williams,” she told BroadwayWorld. “We first met when we working together on ‘Happy Days.’ At the time, we thought we were just young kids bouncing off to a swell place to work. Little did we know that we also were planting seeds that would come to new fruition this far into our lives.”
