Peter Hutterer announced the release of libinput 1.32, an update to the input handling library for Wayland and X.Org based environments. The primary new feature is support for circular scrolling on circular touchpads, currently implemented on the Panasonic CF-SV1 laptop.
libinput 1.32 also introduces an automatic drag lock when dragging near the edge of a touchpad, intended to improve usability for larger distance movements. Additionally, users can now map the physical eraser button on tablets to any desired button function.
The updated library leverages a new feature in systemd 260+ and udev to more accurately determine whether a device is internal or external. More details on the release are available in the official announcement.
