At the KDE Akademy 2026 conference in Graze, Austria, KDE developers unveiled three primary goals for the next two years. These goals center around improving KDE Plasma for enterprise deployments, enhancing documentation, and developing next-generation styling.
The KDE developers will prioritize “KDE for Enterprises and Deployments,” which includes improvements such as better LDAP integration in Plasma, support for password expiry, SSO-based accounts and logins, improved network printer settings, and enhanced headless remote/terminal support. These changes aim to facilitate wider adoption of KDE Plasma within enterprise environments.
Another key focus will be on improving documentation. Developers plan to eliminate outdated, misleading, or duplicated documentation and create comprehensive tutorials. A contributor guide will also be developed to encourage community involvement.
