Actor Jake T. Austin, known for playing Max Russo on the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place,” shared via Instagram Stories that he was not invited to be part of the show’s revival. According to Austin, he was initially contacted in 2020 regarding a potential return.
“I was asked back in 2020 if I was interested in reprising my role and said that I was 100% in,” Austin wrote. However, the actor explained that those involved with the revival ultimately decided to move the show “in a different direction.”
Austin stated, “Unfortunately, the powers that be decided to take the show in a different direction and my character wasn’t part of the equation.” He expressed his disappointment at not being included in the project. Details regarding the planned revival, including casting and plotlines, have not been widely released.
