The 2026 Iowa High School Football season began Friday night with several key matchups. Among the top games were Dowling versus Valley, Iowa City High against Iowa City West, Ankeny versus Waukee Northwest, Ankeny Centennial versus Southeast Polk, Bettendorf versus Pleasant Valley, and Carlisle versus Newton.
A football game between Des Moines East and Des Moines North was held at Mediacom Stadium. During the game, Des Moines East’s Braylen Jenkins (1) was tackled by Des Moines North’s Blessings Mukina (6).
