Kroah-Hartman attributes the expected difficulty to ongoing issues stemming from artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLM). He notes an increase in both bug reports and kernel patches, creating additional work for developers. He stated it is likely to be another “rough” kernel cycle given the ongoing noise caused by AI/LLM.
