Geely has unveiled two concepts of its best-selling EX2 electric vehicle, the EX2 Street and EX2 Track, at Brazil’s Festival Interlagos. The concepts demonstrate the potential for customization and enthusiast driving with the small, affordable EV.
The Geely EX2, also known as the E2 in some European markets, is a small hatchback roughly the size of a Honda Fit and is known for being one of the cheapest new EVs available. While previously considered pleasant but unremarkable to drive, Geely recently introduced the EX2 to the Brazilian market with the two concept versions revealed at last month’s Festival Interlagos.
The EX2 Street features lowered suspension, 17-inch wheels, real leather interior, and an Alcantara headliner. The EX2 Track takes customization further with aggressive graphics, lowered suspension, indigo wheels, a roll cage, five-point harnesses, and a hydraulic handbrake with a long lever. The 114 horsepower motor and 40 kWh battery remain unchanged, but Geely states chassis stability and suspension tuning improve track performance. Videos on social media show the EX2 Track performing drifts and donuts.
The EX2 is rear-wheel-drive, equipped with independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, making it well-suited for drifting, a capability uncommon among similarly priced, front-wheel-drive EVs like the BYD Seagull. Brazilian YouTube channel ACF confirmed the car’s drifting capabilities approximately a month ago. Geely has stated that neither the EX2 Street nor the EX2 Track are planned for production, but they are intended to highlight the possibilities for electric vehicle customization.
