Fox News Media has ended its relationship with Maria Bartiromo, a host known for her financial news coverage and, more recently, her vocal support of Donald Trump. The departure, effective Thursday, follows a period where Bartiromo’s commentary was central to a $787 million defamation settlement with Dominion Voting Systems and remains a point of contention in a second defamation suit. Bartiromo had been with Fox Business Network since 2014, hosting “Mornings with Maria” and “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street,” and also anchored “Sunday Morning Futures” on Fox News Channel.
Bartiromo joined Fox from CNBC, where she was a prominent figure, including being the first to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Her reporting shifted toward a more conservative stance after leaving CNBC, attracting frequent appearances from Trump’s cabinet members. Fox regularly promoted her shows as ratings winners. The Dominion lawsuit alleged that Bartiromo knowingly broadcast false claims about the 2020 presidential election. She also features prominently in a second defamation suit filed by a voting software company.
Following her departure, Fox will rebrand “Mornings with Maria” as “Mornings with Fox Business,” using rotating anchors. Jason Chaffetz will host “Sunday Morning Futures” this week, with a permanent replacement to be announced later. There was initial speculation, reported by Vanity Fair Washington correspondent Aidan McLaughlin, that Bartiromo might join the Trump administration, but Deadline reported she is not departing for another news network or administration role. Bartiromo had been off the air since August 9th and her biography and show pages had been removed from Fox’s websites. She did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
