The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has increased its testing capacity for Ebola, with two facilities currently operating in or near the epicenter of the outbreak. However, reports indicate that this capacity may not be sufficient to keep pace with the expansion of the disease.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), supplies of testing kits have been depleted at three laboratories located in the North and South Kivu provinces.
While testing capacity has improved, the current infrastructure is described as not being nearly enough to manage the rapidly expanding disease.
