Arizona volleyball has added transfer Destiny Ndam-Simpson, a former top 35 recruit from Creighton. Head coach Rita Stubbs was attracted to Ndam-Simpson’s diligence in the transfer portal and her training background, despite limited playing time in college.
Ndam-Simpson, who had two years of eligibility remaining even before the 5-in-5 rule, spoke with over 30 schools after entering the portal. Stubbs noted that Ndam-Simpson’s background as a highly-rated high school player and her remaining eligibility were key factors in Arizona’s pursuit. The Wildcats offered Ndam-Simpson an opportunity to be an aggressive attacker and a significant contributor to the program.
Ndam-Simpson committed to Arizona after a visit to Tucson, communicating her decision to her parents while in the campus bookstore. She then informed Stubbs, presenting an Arizona volleyball shirt and asking if she would like to see her wearing it upon her return in July, prompting a celebratory reaction from the coach. Her junior season at Creighton was cut short after 10 matches due to injury.
Arizona’s volleyball schedule includes games against Prairie View A&M (Aug. 28), Tarleton State (Aug. 29), and UC Santa Barbara (Aug. 30), all at the McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona, and streamed on ESPN+.
