Dashlane Says Hackers Stole Customer Password Vaults

Password manager giant Dashlane has disclosed that hackers successfully stole some customers’ password vaults. The company confirmed that the security incident involved the unauthorized access and download of sensitive user data stored within its systems.

According to the company, the attackers were able to compromise the security infrastructure by utilizing a specific method. Dashlane stated that hackers were able to 'brute-force' its two-factor system. This action allowed the intruders to bypass the protective measures designed to prevent unauthorized entry.

By compromising the two-factor system, the hackers gained the ability to access customer accounts. Following this access, the hackers downloaded the password vaults. The incident confirms that the vaults were exfiltrated from the accounts of the password manager's customers.
