Bose has unveiled the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) and the Bose Sport Open Earbuds, both featuring updated designs and performance enhancements. The new earbuds aim to provide immersive audio while maintaining awareness of surroundings.
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) are a refreshed version of the clip-on wireless earbuds released two-and-a-half years ago. They will be available for preorder on September 19th for $299, with general availability starting October 1st. Color options include black, white smoke, cherry chocolate, olive green, and sky pink. Bose claims the new earbuds feature a new driver delivering higher volume with automatic adjustments and deeper bass. A new Cinema Mode utilizes Bose’s TrueSpatial technology to simulate a “wider, more immersive soundstage” while ensuring clear dialogue. Battery life has been extended to up to nine hours, with the redesigned charging case providing an additional 19.5 hours of playback and now capable of standing upright for wireless charging.
Alongside the Ultra Open Earbuds, Bose also introduced the Bose Sport Open Earbuds, priced at $199. Available in black, white smoke, and eucalyptus green, the Sport version is designed for secure wear during physical activity. They feature a thinner cuff with a soft silicone matte finish for improved grip and are designed to remain in place during vigorous movement, including “head shakes, cartwheels, and running.” The Sport Open Earbuds also include automatic volume adjustments that adapt to ambient noise and a customizable shortcut button with an added texture for easier use during workouts. Battery life is rated at up to seven hours, with the charging case providing an additional 22 hours of playback. Like the original Ultra Open Earbuds, neither new model features active noise cancellation (ANC), as they are designed to allow users to hear their surroundings while listening to audio.
