Carlos Beltrán, Andruw Jones and Jeff Kent are preparing for their induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ahead of the ceremony, Beltrán recalled a memorable encounter with Kansas City Royals great George Brett and fellow Puerto Rican Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda.
In 1999, while visiting Cooperstown, New York, Brett introduced a young Carlos Beltrán to Orlando Cepeda. At the time, Beltrán hadn’t even completed his first full major league season but Brett already believed he was destined for baseball immortality. Beltrán recounted that Brett told him, “You’re going to be here one day.”
The story highlights the anticipation and recognition of Beltrán's talent early in his career. The induction ceremony will formally recognize Beltrán, Jones, and Kent for their contributions to baseball, solidifying their places among the game’s greats.
