The game remained tied until the top of the 10th inning when LaMonte Wade Jr. led off with Cam Smith on second base, who was placed as the automatic runner. Smith then advanced to third base due to a wild pitch thrown by Jason Foley (0-1). Peña subsequently hit a go-ahead single with no outs.
Following Peña’s hit, Isaac Paredes extended the Astros' lead with a two-run double one out later. This gave Houston a 6-3 advantage which they maintained for the win.
Josh Hader (4-1) secured the victory for the Astros by pitching two perfect innings. The Astros rallied to overcome the Giants, ultimately winning the game after a back-and-forth contest.
