Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Ryan Silverfield expressed disappointment with his team's offensive performance despite a 31-14 victory over North Alabama on Saturday. The Razorbacks, who snapped a 10-game losing streak, gained 415 yards but failed to establish a consistent running game and committed costly turnovers.
Silverfield described the offensive showing as “one of the worst offensive performances that I’ve been a part of.” While quarterback KJ Jackson threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns, he also threw an interception and lost a fumble. The offensive line received a 52.3 grade from Pro Football Focus in run blocking, allowing three sacks and five tackles for loss. Arkansas rushed for only 148 yards, failing to surpass North Alabama’s typical FCS opponent rushing yield of 179.2 yards.
“Didn't do a good enough job running the football. Obviously a turnover before halftime cannot happen. Absolutely inexcusable,” Silverfield stated. “The offensive line’s got to play better and see the run throughs, but that's everybody. And then ultimately not being able to take care of the football. We said we want to play clean, disciplined football and take care of the football. We didn't do that.”
Despite the offensive struggles, Arkansas’s defense performed strongly, holding North Alabama to 153 total yards and 40 rushing yards. The Lions were held scoreless for nearly three quarters and managed only 18 yards of offense at halftime. Arkansas recorded two sacks, five tackles for loss, and a recovered fumble. Silverfield praised the defense, saying, “I think the defense played lights out in the first half. Quite pleased with the way they played. Want our fans to know that's Razorback defense that they can come to expect and to love.”
