A group of 30 Democratic members of Congress has sent a letter to President Donald Trump requesting that the U.S. government release information about Israel’s nuclear weapons program, according to reports from the Washington Post and RT. Israel has never officially acknowledged possessing nuclear arms, and the program was developed in secret starting in the late 1950s, the Washington Post reported.
The letter calls on the administration to break with decades of U.S. policy that has avoided public discussion of Israel’s nuclear capabilities. The Washington Post stated that the lawmakers explicitly ask the U.S. to “expose” Israel’s weapons program.
