Dian Weys’ drama ‘Vultures’ received the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the HollyShorts Film Festival on Sunday evening. The award qualifies the film for Oscar consideration.
The 15-minute short film, starring Edwin van der Walt, Jill Levenberg, and Albert Pretorius, was awarded the top honor at the festival. The Grand Jury Prize is a prestigious award that makes the film eligible for nomination at the Academy Awards.
In addition to Oscar qualification, ‘Vultures’ also received a prize of a $60,000 Panavision camera package. The HollyShorts Film Festival is known as an Oscar-qualifying festival, meaning that winning films are eligible to be considered for the Academy Awards in the Short Film category.
