Seattle must reduce its roster to 53 players by 3 p.m. PT on August 30. After the waiver wire process concludes, the Seahawks will assemble their practice squad to provide developmental players and depth. The claiming period for waived players expires at 10 a.m. PT on August 31, with Seattle having the 32nd and final priority in the waiver order due to winning the Super Bowl. This means all other 31 teams will have a chance to claim players before the Seahawks.
Teams can begin forming practice squads after the waiver period ends at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, August 31, following the distribution of a Personnel Notice detailing waiver results. Players claimed on waivers will join the claiming team’s 53-man roster, while those who clear waivers are eligible for a practice squad. A standard practice squad consists of 16 players, with a 17th allowed for players in the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program; Federico Maranges, an iOL, is part of this program.
Players with four or more accrued seasons are unrestricted free agents and not subject to waivers. Players with three or fewer accrued seasons are subject to the waiver process, meaning players like Eric Saubert and Noah Igbinoghene could be affected.
