The Baltimore Ravens released several players over the weekend who are now subject to waivers, potentially allowing other teams to claim them. Beatdown's staff identified several players as being at high risk of being claimed.
Dustin believes Robert Longerbeam, Adisa Isaac, and Rayshaun Benny are the biggest waiver risks. Longerbeam had a “very strong preseason” after recovering from an injury that ended his rookie season, but the Ravens have a crowded cornerback group. “Cornerback depth is of utmost importance in the NFL, so it would not surprise me to see someone claim Longerbeam,” Dustin stated. Isaac, a former third-round pick, has been hampered by injuries, but Dustin anticipates at least one team will take a chance on the athletic pass rusher. Benny, like Longerbeam, was a victim of the Ravens’ depth at his position, with the team opting for Aeneas Peebles as the final defensive lineman.
Zach identified five players he hopes the Ravens can retain on their practice squad but fears will be claimed. These include seventh-round pick Rayshaun Benny, who “flashed a bit” during the preseason, and offensive tackle Gerald Lichtenhan, who was a “steady” presence during preseason play. Zach also highlighted pass rushers Adisa Isaac and Kaimon Rucker, noting that Ethan Burke simply made more impactful plays. Finally, Zach believes Robert Longerbeam “finally had a chance to show what he could do” after his rookie injury and that another team would be “lucky to grab him as depth.”
Waivers will begin processing at 1 p.m. ET, and the Ravens will attempt to re-sign players to their practice squad if they clear waivers.
