Following the first week of the 2026 NFL season, several teams have seen significant changes in power rankings. The Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers were among the most impressive teams, while the Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts struggled.
The Arizona Cardinals, considered the biggest underdog in Week 1, defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 26-14 in Mike LaFleur’s debut. This win has altered expectations for their Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Chicago Bears achieved a decisive 59-37 victory over the Carolina Panthers, despite allowing 37 points.
Several teams experienced disappointing starts to the season. The Cleveland Browns lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-10, with Deshaun Watson being sacked five times. The Tennessee Titans fell to the New York Jets 23-10, with Cam Ward completing 19 of 32 passes for 140 yards and the team totaling only 195 yards. The Miami Dolphins were defeated by the Las Vegas Raiders 27-13, with De'Von Achane rushing for only 36 yards on 11 carries.
The Indianapolis Colts’ defense allowed the Baltimore Ravens to accumulate 506 total yards, averaging 7.9 yards per play, in a 41-23 loss. The Carolina Panthers, despite scoring 37 points, conceded 59 in their loss to the Bears. The New York Jets, led by Geno Smith (19-for-24, 215 yards), defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-10. Kirk Cousins of the Las Vegas Raiders completed passes to six different receivers in their 27-13 win over the Dolphins.
The Atlanta Falcons lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-13, despite Bijan Robinson receiving 21 carries and 10 targets. The rankings will be updated after the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos game on Monday Night Football, September 14.
