Meta released Glimmer this week, an open-weight AI model that users can download and run on their own hardware. This release stands in contrast to Muse Spark, the company’s more powerful model, which remains locked behind Meta's own APIs.
The release was accompanied by a letter from Mark Zuckerberg. In the letter, Zuckerberg argued that AI should be “for everyone” rather than being controlled by a handful of labs.
