The GNOME project experienced a busy week with developments across several areas, including funding for Flatpak, advancements in GPU reset recovery, and new releases for various applications.
GNOME Mutter’s GPU reset recovery is nearing completion, with a merge request now open for code review. Simultaneously, the Sovereign Tech Agency invested half a million Euros into Flatpak, bolstering the platform’s development.
On the application front, Test Center became available on Flathub. Test Center functions as a platform for managing experimental versions of Flatpak apps and system components, similar to Apple’s Test Flight. Bazaar, a new app store focused on discovering and installing apps from Flatpak remotes, was accepted into GNOME Circle.
Newelle, the GNOME-focused AI assistant, released version 1.5, featuring an improved terminal tool and enhanced text generation animation. The Rust-based Glycin image loading library also issued its 2.2 beta release, addressing a memory leak in the gtk-rs code.
