The Denver Broncos will open the season against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football wearing their ‘Summit White’ uniforms, the same uniforms they wore in a victory over the Chiefs last Christmas Day. The team also announced nine team captains and released an unofficial Week 1 depth chart.
The Broncos defeated the Chiefs 13-3 in Arrowhead Stadium last year while wearing the ‘Summit White’ uniforms. Quarterback Bo Nix led a game-winning drive in that contest. Nix is returning to the field after an ankle injury ended his previous season.
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton announced nine team captains, who were voted on by the players. Wil Lutz, a kicker for the Broncos, expressed his appreciation for being named a captain, stating, “It means a lot. I think when you're voted as a captain by the guys that you come to work with every day and you spend a lot of time with, I think that's the ultimate sign of respect and I don't take it lightly.” Lutz also noted the team’s strong leadership, saying, “We have a lot of leadership, and that's kind of what I said the other night. I think this team is built to lead by committee.” He added, “My job is to be a good teammate and make field goals.”
The Broncos have also released an unofficial Week 1 depth chart ahead of their game against the Chiefs, though head coach Sean Payton did not reveal all details. Players are reportedly excited for Nix’s return, with Lutz saying, “Everybody’s just ready to play.”
