Black women have earned five directing nominations across three categories this Emmy season, marking the highest number of recognitions for Black women directors in a single cycle by the Television Academy.
Among the nominees is Salli Richardson-Whitfield, who received two nominations in the drama directing category for her work on HBO Max’s "The Gilded Age" and "Task."
Additionally, the current Emmy cycle has seen gains for Asian auteurs in directing categories.
