Kevin Rideout, an American missionary and pilot for an evangelical organization, has been released after being held in captivity for more than nine months.
Rideout was kidnapped in October outside his home in Niamey, the capital of Niger. His mission organization, SIM International, announced Friday that Rideout "is in good health in the care of U.S. officials."
The release occurs while the security situation in Niger remains tense.
