The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 13-10 in what marked the first game under new ownership by venture capitalist billionaire Vinod Khosla. The win came despite losing starting quarterback Sam Darnold on the first drive of the season.
Khosla, who recently purchased the Seahawks for $9.612 billion, attended the game after a press conference with his family. He previously was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s and a minority stakeholder in the San Francisco 49ers. This game represented his first experience as owner of the Seahawks.
The Patriots’ Drake Maye struggled in the fourth quarter, throwing three interceptions – including a game-clinching interception to Josh Jobe while within field goal range – after having no sacks or turnovers in the first three quarters. Following the game, Khosla tweeted a message seemingly acknowledging the typical rollercoaster experience of being a Seahawks fan.
Khosla, a longtime NFL fan, is now fully invested in the Seahawks franchise.
