Jemima Kirke is starring in “The Swap,” a scripted micro-drama for Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2026 campaign. The project, part of the “Question Marc” series, follows Kirke and Rowan Blanchard after an accidental handbag mix-up at a runway show. Kirke also discussed her personal style, contrasting it with that of her ‘Girls’ character, Jessa, and recounted a chaotic Fashion Week experience in Paris.
Marc Jacobs is blending fashion and entertainment with its latest installment of “Question Marc,” following April’s “The Scene.” “The Swap” centers around Kirke and Blanchard mistakenly exchanging Scene Bags after a runway show, leading to a chase across New York City as they investigate the contents of each other’s bags and imagine the owners’ lives.
Kirke reflected on her everyday carry, stating, “I’ve always carried the same things with me…What’s changed is that I no longer need most of this stuff. Other than lipstick and candy.” Her typical items include a notebook, pens, a calendar, lipstick, a book, hand cream, keys, a “massive wallet,” and candy.
Despite playing the fashion-forward Jessa on ‘Girls,’ Kirke confirmed she doesn’t draw style inspiration from the character. “No, not at all,” she said. “Jessa’s look doesn’t appeal to me personally.”
Kirke also shared a story from Paris Fashion Week around 2014, during a Chanel fall show. While modeling fashions as part of the performance, she and her cousin became involved in a dispute after taking drinks from another table. The situation escalated when someone from the other table confronted them with a broken bottle, resulting in a scratch and their removal from the area. Kirke’s group then took over the vacated table and their drinks.
Additional installments of “The Swap” are planned for release across Marc Jacobs’ social channels throughout the fall.
