The Iberseries & Platino Industria conference in Madrid launched the Euro-Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch Program on Tuesday, September 29, to connect European TV projects with potential partners and accelerate their development. The program aims to facilitate financing, production, and distribution for series in development.
Rodrigo Ros, general coordinator of the program, stated, “This is a different initiative from Coproduction & Financing Forum, but it maintains the same essence: connecting projects with key partners and accelerating the financing, production and distribution processes of projects in development.” The initiative will feature one-to-one and one-to-many meetings throughout Tuesday, followed by a public presentation at the Cineteca Matadero on Wednesday, September 30, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
A selection committee comprised of industry professionals including Laura Miñarro, VP of international business and coproduction at Buendía Estudios (Spain); Diego del Pozo, head of fiction at Atresmedia Televisión (Spain); José Fragoso, programming head at RTP1 and RTP Internacional (Portugal); and Georges Huercano, development and co-productions manager at RTL (Belgium) curated the initial projects.
The first edition includes projects from Spain, Belgium, France, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Canada, and Uruguay. Collaboration agreements with the Göteborg Film Festival and Seriencamp have also brought in additional projects. Nine series projects will be presented, spanning genres such as drama, documentary, thriller, comedy, and historical fiction. Featured series include “Callback” by Joana Vilapuig, Mirela Vilapuig, and Diego Vega; “Heartbeats” (“Latidos”) by Cristina Molino; “In Memoriam”; “The Invisible Ink”; “King of Hearts”; and a heist comedy. “Callback” follows director Fran, who accuses actor and producer Roman of abuse at the premiere of her debut feature. “Heartbeats” is a docu-series following eight elite female athletes through pregnancy, motherhood, and their athletic careers. The Iberseries & Platino Industria runs through October 2.
