England was bowled out for 409 on Day 3 of the first test match against Pakistan at Headingley, establishing a commanding 238-run lead. The tail end of the England batting lineup added 43 runs to the overnight score of 366-8 before being dismissed.
Resuming play, England continued to build its innings. Jofra Archer contributed 23 runs, including two fours and a six, before running out of batting partners. The final wickets fell to Khurram Shahzad.
Jamie Smith, the wicketkeeper, was dismissed for 25 after miscuing a pull shot to midwicket. Josh Tongue, the No. 11 batsman, was also removed by Shahzad, completing the England innings at 409.
With the first innings concluded, England now holds a significant advantage of 238 runs heading into the second innings. The match is being played at Headingley on Friday.
