Los Angeles Dodgers fans are voicing frustration following a three-game series loss to the Atlanta Braves, citing offensive struggles as a key factor. The Dodgers were 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position during Thursday’s game, and struggled throughout the series with runners on base.
Fans took to the Dodgers Nation website to express their concerns and suggest solutions. Several commenters called for lineup and roster adjustments, specifically targeting outfielders Teoscar Hernandez and Kyle Tucker. EZIO DANTE TERZI wrote, “Bench Teo and Kyle as Teo can't hit a low outside pitch and Kyle cant hit anything. Both need remedial hitting coaching.”
Mike Pearl criticized the team’s use of its farm system, stating, “I do not know what good it is to have the best farm system in baseball if they are only used as trade bait. It doesn't matter how good our starting pitching is if we can't score any runs.” Bob Callighan suggested promoting top prospect Josue De Paula to center field, arguing that if the current moment isn’t right for him, he “will never be ready.” He also criticized the team’s hitting coaches, Aaron Bates and Robert Van Scoyoc.
Callighan pointed to the team’s high strikeout rate – “over a thousand strikeouts with four players over 100 and two more in their 90s” – and issues with plate discipline. He specifically noted that Shohei Ohtani leading the team in strikeouts “is not good for a lead off hitter,” and that hitters often continue swinging for the fences with two strikes. He also observed that some players struggle to identify pitches, swinging at balls in the dirt or far outside the strike zone.
Other fans placed blame on manager Dave Roberts. J. Quincy Magoo questioned Roberts’ strategy, asking, “Unbelievable. Doesn't Roberts learn? He comes out with the same batting line-up, in the same order, that's been consistently beating themselves, and expects a different outcome.” Another commenter suggested promoting James Tibbs III from Triple-A, citing his strong performance this year.
