The Republic of Djibouti will become the 72nd signatory of the Artemis Accords during a ceremony hosted by NASA on Monday, September 14th. The accords aim to establish practical principles for international cooperation in space exploration.
The signing ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. EDT at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson will host the event, welcoming Ambassador of Djibouti to the United States Mohamed Siad Douale and U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Frank Garcia.
The Artemis Accords were established in 2020 by the United States, alongside seven other founding nations, in response to increasing lunar activity from both governmental and private sectors. The accords are designed to enhance safety, transparency, and coordination for civil space exploration of the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
Media interested in attending the in-person ceremony must RSVP to [email protected] no later than 8 a.m. EDT on September 14th. NASA’s media accreditation policy is available online.
