Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II performed his signature “Sexy Dexy” dance during player introductions at Paycor Stadium before the team’s Week 1 NFL game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bengals shared a video of the dance with the caption, “Get sexy, Cincinnati.” Lawrence had previously indicated his intention to perform the dance if he achieved a sack during the game. During an August preseason game against the Detroit Lions, sideline reporter Joe Danneman asked Lawrence about his plans to do the dance in Week 1. Lawrence responded, “That’s the plan, that’s the plan. Saving it for showtime.”
Danneman also inquired about fan requests for the dance, to which Lawrence joked, “Every time I see them. Every time.” Lawrence explained his motivation, stating, “Every day I just want to bring joy. I love playing football. I love doing this. I love being out here with the guys and competing. Why not? Why not have joy? That's how we're supposed to live.”
