Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning received criticism for calling an AI-generated video of head coach Steve Sarkisian appearing to slap ESPN reporter Holly Rowe “hilarious.” The video depicted violence that did not occur during a post-game interview.

Manning made the comments Monday during his weekly media availability when asked about online videos related to Saturday’s postgame scene following Texas’ 24-23 win over Ohio State. He stated, “Y’all seen that one? That's a good one. Of him slapping Holly Rowe? Yeah, it's hilarious.” His remarks were met with laughter from reporters.

The AI-generated video showed Sarkisian ending an interview with a backhanded slap of Rowe. In reality, Sarkisian walked away from Rowe after saying, “Let's go, Texas fight! Hook 'Em.” The incident was described as awkward, and a UT spokesperson told *The Athletic* that technical difficulties were a factor.

Manning’s comments and the reporters’ reaction drew condemnation on social media. As of Tuesday morning, Texas had not responded to a request for comment or clarification from the *American-Statesman*. Sarkisian was also not asked about the interaction during his own availability Monday.

The Longhorns, currently ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll, will play UTSA on Saturday.
