Zak Starkey has rejoined The Who for rehearsals, signaling a reconciliation after being removed from the band in April 2025. The rehearsals occurred ahead of potential future performances, including a possible European farewell tour.
Roger Daltrey revealed during a solo performance at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas that he recently rehearsed with Starkey, stating, “it sounded great.” The Las Vegas Journal-Review reported on the performance the following day. Starkey, the son of Ringo Starr, confirmed Daltrey’s statement on social media, posting a screenshot of the review and adding, “Nice one Rog x. Lookin forward to tearin it up with The Who again..The rehearsal was great.. I don’t think we’ve ever rehearsed as tough as that .. usually we drink tea and talk about what time we’re going home!”
In a statement to Variety, Starkey elaborated, “We rehearsed for an afternoon and were absolutely on fire. I’m so happy to be back playing the music I love with people I love. It’s good to be home.”
The Who completed a U.S. farewell tour last October, but Daltrey indicated the band is not finished. He told the Arizona Republic, “It’s not over by any means…that was the last tour of America for the Who.” He also mentioned a recent rehearsal to prepare for a European farewell tour, though he did not initially disclose Starkey’s participation.
