Trinity Byars was the dominant force in the Wave’s win, recording two goals and two assists. She opened the scoring in the fourth minute, capitalizing on a long pass from Melanie Barcenas and firing a shot from distance into the opposite corner of the net.
The San Diego Wave’s 4-2 defeat of the visiting Utah Royals has resulted in a tie for third place in the NWSL standings. Both teams now have the same number of points, trailing only Gotham FC and the Washington Spirit.
