A fourteen-year-old student in Nonthaburi province, Thailand, killed eight people – including his grandparents – before taking his own life at Debsirin Nonthaburi School on Friday. Police report the teenager opened fire at his home, killing his grandparents, then traveled to the school where he fatally shot five others and wounded 22 more. The shooter used a handgun belonging to his grandfather, firing approximately 26 rounds with another 34 found in his possession. No motive for the attack has been established.
The shooting is among Thailand’s deadliest mass killings since 2022. Authorities have not yet released details regarding potential security failures or preventative measures that may have been in place at the school. While investigations are ongoing, reports indicate the teenager acted alone.
