The Pittsburgh Steelers have restructured wide receiver DK Metcalf’s contract, converting base salary into a signing bonus. This move creates approximately $18 million in salary cap space for the 2026 season, according to NFL insider Field Yates.
Metcalf signed a four-year, $132 million extension with the Steelers after being traded from the Seattle Seahawks in March 2025. Late last season, questions arose regarding remaining guarantees in his contract following an interaction with a fan in Detroit, but the team ultimately chose not to void those guarantees.
The Steelers have since added veteran wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie Germie Bernard to their receiving corps. Last season, Metcalf led the Steelers with 850 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions, supported by Calvin Austin III, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Adam Thielen.
During early training camp, Metcalf demonstrated a strong connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with the two having developed a closer relationship over the offseason.
