Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has joined forces with Netflix and Universal Pictures International Spain to co-produce “Blanco,” a feature film directed by Félix Viscarret. The movie will depict the 1997 kidnapping and murder of Basque politician Miguel Ángel Blanco by the terrorist organization ETA.
The high-profile project, helmed by Viscarret – known for his work on “Patria” and “Under the Stars” – aims to dramatize the events surrounding Blanco’s abduction and subsequent death. RTVE’s involvement adds further weight to the production, which is already backed by streaming giant Netflix and Universal Pictures International Spain.
Universal Pictures International Spain will be responsible for the theatrical distribution of “Blanco.
