Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is reportedly making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury, participating in training camp and expressing confidence in the joint’s stability. He stated that while he initially focused on protecting the knee during practice, it now feels strong enough that he often doesn't think about it.
Mahomes has been testing his rehabbed knee throughout training camp. According to ESPN, the quarterback indicated he was consciously trying not to overstress the knee early in practices but is increasingly comfortable with its condition.
“It feels great,” Mahomes said. “I think for a little bit there I was definitely protecting it, and now I’m just out there playing football.” He added that at times he doesn't even think about his knee during practice sessions, suggesting a high level of recovery and confidence in its strength.
The reason for the careful approach initially stemmed from needing to ensure full rehabilitation following an unspecified knee injury. Mahomes’ positive update signals he is on track to be fully available for the upcoming NFL season.
