Ali was announced as the star of a “Blade” movie during a surprise appearance at Comic-Con in 2019. However, the film never moved forward into production. Marvel Studios initially hired Bassam Tariq as director, later replacing him with Yann Demange.
In recent comments, Ali stated, “You had me under contract. They have billions of dollars. If they wanted to do it, we would’ve done it.” This suggests that the studio's financial resources and decision-making power were the primary factors preventing the film from being made, rather than creative or logistical challenges.
The two-time Oscar winner never appeared in live-action as the vampire-hunting anti-hero. Ali’s remarks highlight a perceived lack of prioritization for the project within Marvel Studios' extensive slate of films and television series.
