Lone Peak High School’s football team suffered a 59-3 defeat against IMG Academy on Friday night, largely due to a series of turnovers. The game, played in front of a large crowd and a local television audience, saw IMG Academy capitalize on four turnovers and a muffed punt attempt.
Lone Peak coach Bart Brockbank scheduled the game against the nationally-ranked IMG Academy knowing it would be a significant challenge. He anticipated that an error-free performance would be necessary for his team to achieve an upset victory. However, the Knights were unable to execute flawlessly, and the resulting turnovers proved decisive.
“That’s the best team I’ve seen, by far,” Brockbank stated after the game. The IMG Academy team demonstrated superior skill and took full advantage of the opportunities presented by Lone Peak’s mistakes, ultimately leading to the lopsided score.
